My Hope Of Heaven by Edwin O'Hanlon

Imagine you’re taking a trip. You arrive at the airport check-in desk, but you’re the only passenger there. Security's a ghost town. So is your gate. You board an empty airplane and meet no one the entire flight. No captain. No stewardess. No one.

In many ways, this is death. We enter this world alone, and we leave just the same. But what if the person you loved most of all was eagerly waiting for you once you disembarked the flight? That ought to warm your heart and stop the trip from feeling like a Twilight Zone episode, right? Well, Jesus promises just this!

The joy of hoping on heaven purifies the lives of the redeemed. Paul says: If you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God (Col. 3:1). Paul toiled tirelessly for the Church’s sanctification because he knew heavenly eyes are the best shield against sin.

We may be positionally righteous on this side of heaven, but none of us are practically perfect until we go to be with the Lord. We must look ahead to the sweet hereafter. And when our day of departure comes, may we share Paul’s desire to depart and be with Christ, for that is very much better (Phil. 1:23). Amen and amen. Come Lord Jesus.

Christians celebrate both the Cross, where Jesus gave His life to rescue us, and the Crown, symbolic of His victory over sin and death.

He died and rose again that sinners like me might forever know and love God.

My mission now is to rejoice in Christ, explore Scripture, and magnify its loving author by publishing weekly articles at www.fromcrosstocrown.com

Poetry: He Will Turn It Into Good

HE WILL TURN IT INTO GOOD

I heard a man on TV today,

Who spoke about suffering and trials to allay,

The feeling that struggles are really for nothing,

The often unfairness and our life's contorting.

He said if we could not determine a cause,

That we can be certain and give this applause,

That we will come out of it richer inside,

The strength that we get will show on the outside.

Some trials are too heavy, some burdens beyond,

What we think is fair, way too much put upon.

But there is not anything God cannot use,

To make our lives better, to help us improve.

That does not support that our pain is ordained,

That God must make sorrow for blessings to rain.

He does not need trouble and horror and woe.

He needs not the evil from that pit below.

We live in a world that is set on a course.

The fault is not ours so we feel no remorse.

We know we can't change Satan's evil world reign.

The Blood of Our Savior we use as a bane.

Don't think about quitting or turning on God.

To God be the glory and give him a nod.

He will make it right, this old world has to go,

And all of the pain and the suffering and woe.

So what can't be changed will be taken for you,

And made as a blessing, to help others too.

Just keep holding on and don't dare you forget,

That you will come out of it richer and blessed.

Poetry: Flyaway Fear

FLYAWAY FEAR

I went to talk to the Lord today

And all was quiet,

Except for the birds

That sounded gay.

I thought of what I wanted to say

But thoughts did hide.

They did not quiet

My anxious way.

All was quiet as I sat alone.

No words they came

But faith rose up,

And fear was gone.

Run Into The Strong Tower

There will be lies and threats through Satan and his helpers.

God, however, is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble. He knows those who trust in him.

The name of the Lord is a strong tower. The righteous run into it and are safe.

Remember who you are in Christ Jesus!

Nahum 1:7

Proverbs 18:10

Ephesians 6:10-18

Trust God Acknowledge God Commit It To God

Is there something that you're trying to do all alone, as you've always done? Are you taking that step without the guidance that is available to you? Have you forgotten that Our Father is always ready to assist you in your decisions, directions and pursuits?

Do you realize that Jesus wants you to give him the things that concern you and that he is favorably talking to Our Father about you?

Have you learned that the Holy Spirit will comfort you as you face that new plan or goal, if you invite him in and listen to him? Have you learned that he will guide you on the path so that you don't have to worry about the direction in which you are going?

Trust God today.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and learn not to your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him and he shall direct your paths. Proverbs 3:5-6

Commit your works unto the Lord and your thoughts will be established. Proverbs 16:3

Commit your way unto the Lord, trust also in him and he shall bring it to pass. Psalm 37:5

Things Change Overnight

I don't know how to impress upon you the importance of being faithful, of pressing on through dissatisfaction, confusion and fear. It is imperative that you continue to do your part, though it seems like nothing is happening. Whatever your need is, whatever you have presented to God, keep working towards the answer.

I have heard it said that at the time when we feel like we can't go on, God comes through. When we feel that we are going to break but then choose to push on one more time, God sends the answer. All of the cliches, it's darkest before the dawn and there's a silver lining behind a dark cloud, seem to be true after we are stretched to the limit and still trusting God.

One of my favorite scriptures that I quote everyday is, Many are the afflictions of the righteous but the Lord delivers him out of them all. (Psalm 34:19) If your thinking is similar to mine, you feel that God does not have to deliver you out of them all. For some wants and needs that develop ever so often you want deliverance through favorable outcomes.

In those situations, we fervently pray and hope that God will deliver the help that we need ASAP. Praying, believing and working towards a goal that seems to be moving further away is an affliction from which we definitely want to be delivered.

We work hard everyday to trust Our Father and build ourselves up in our most holy faith. We believe The Most High God will increase our faith. We practice everything that we know to strengthen our resolve and fortify us spiritually, but nothing seems to be happening. Nothing is happening towards the thing that we are believing for.

Not only are we doing our part spiritually but there are efforts that we must make towards the goal for which we are believing God. We must look. We must work. We must pursue what we need. We have a part to do and we're faithfully doing it. Time is ticking and we start thinking of various solutions because nothing is happening. Though we know God is with us and we're on the right track, we're not getting anything concrete from God. He's not giving us enough information for us to be sure of the outcome.

My mom has been gone to Jesus now for about 2 years. She used to say, Things change overnight! That was one of her favorite sayings that comforted us when we were struggling or pressured. I find myself repeating her words often. Things change overnight! They truly do. One reason is the passage of time. Things often change when enough time has passed, though the change may not be what we were believing for. There is another more important and reliable reason that things change overnight. It is because God had a plan for it all along.

In the eleventh hour, when it feels like our faith in God helping us with it is over because we can't hold on and keep trying anymore, God surprises us with the answer, the revelation, the deliverance, the solution. The blessing drops. It was going to happen all along.

God's Holy Spirit set it into motion a long time ago. We had a part in it back when we first presented our request to God and started taking action. As time passed we began to lost hope but God knew all along what he was going to do. He was guiding us all along but not allowing us to see the outcome.

We wake up one morning and there it is. God presents us with the answer, the arrangement, the help that we need. After he has tested our faith, strained us to our breaking point and tried us in the fire, he gives us what we thought was a long-lost answer. How excited you will be that you did not totally give up. How blessed you will be when you recognize that along with God's revelation of provision that your spirit has also been tempered. Through being stretched to your breaking point your spirit has been strengthened.

I encourage you to continue on. Keep pressing on, trusting God for that thing. You know that your spirit is always willing to go further. It is the flesh that tires and wants to give up. You've got to tell Our Heavenly Father that you are determined to continue to believe that he has the answer and that he is and will help you. You've got to confess to him that you refuse to give up on him, not matter how it looks, no matter what happens, no matter how you feel. You've got to stand.

Trust him. It's so hard because you are being tried in the fire but that strengthens you. He is strengthening you because he loves you. You will be so grateful that you did not turn away from God, the scriptures and praying, that you did not stop doing your part in believing and seeking for a solution. When you wake up on that morning and he has changed your situation overnight, it will be a miracle, both outer and inner!

Poetry: I Met God In The Morning by Ralph Spalding Cushman

I met God in the morning when the day was at its best.

And his presence came like sunrise like a glory in my breast.

All day long his presence lingered all day long he stayed with me,

And we sailed with perfect calmness o'er a very troubled sea.

Other ships were blown and battered.

Other ships were sore distressed,

But the winds that seemed to drive them

Brought to me a peace and rest.

Then I thought of other mornings with a keen remorse of mind

When I too had loosed the moorings with the presence left behind.

Now I think I know the secret learned from many a troubled way.

You must meet him in the morning if you want him through the day.

How To Be Saved

If you would like to be sure that you are Saved,

if you would like to be a Christian, say this simple prayer:

Jesus, I believe that you are the Son of God, that you died for me, that God raised you from the dead and that you are alive today. Save me so that I can live in the light of God. I believe that my sins are forgiven and that I don't have to fear death anymore. I have moved from darkness into the light. Thank you, Jesus, for Eternal Life.

Now tell someone about what you have done.

If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. (Romans 10:9)

With God All Things Are Possible

Do you believe or do you need Our Father to increase your faith?

The Holy Word tells us over and over again...ALL things, not some things, not a few things, but ALL things are possible to him who believes.

If we ask anything ACCORDING TO HIS WILL, he hears us. IF we believe that he hears us, then we know that we have what we have asked for, BECAUSE we asked according to HIS will. (I John 5:14-15)

All of the scriptures that encourage us to believe in the impossible, including Matthew 21:21-22, Matthew 17:20, John 15:7 and Mark 9:23, are explicit in stating that ALL things, ANYTHING is possible.

I don't believe that the Bible states things just because they sound good or that it doesn't mean what it is plainly saying. Our problem is that in our fleshly minds we demote The Word.

Choose to believe today! Ask Our Father to increase your faith today so that you can start promoting The Word to where God intended it to function in your life.

This plaque, Nothing Is Impossible With God, was made by a young lady who presented it to me, many years ago, when I was moving away to a new start in life. She was apologetic because when she made it some of the glaze that she added ran down the front. I assured her that it was beautiful. I cherish it. No matter where I am, I display it so that I can see it.

It Doesn't Matter How He Looked

If you don't know Jesus in the beauty of holiness, in the essence of spirituality, then how he looks to you will not save you.

If knowing him is dependent upon how you think he should look, then it's possible that you could be as lost as the person who does not know Jesus and, therefore, does not know God.

If you cannot accept Jesus Christ as looking like all ethnicities, all skin colors and all races, and ultimately as none of them, then do you truly know Him? Do you really understand who he is and why he came?

Image #4

The ignorance and darkness is not in choosing to see Jesus as white, brown, red or yellow and having images like that in your home. The darkness is in insisting that he CANNOT exist in any other way than how you choose to see him.

The Father sent him to began his life here on earth in the Hebrew race. He is part of the Israelite lineage according to the Holy Bible.

We have a good idea, and much more evidence has come to light, but we don't know exactly how he looked. We can surmise based on his environment, genetics, recent discoveries and the absence of the world pollutants that exist today.

Image #7

He was physical but mainly spiritual and divine. He was never restricted by the flesh. However he looked, he belongs to everyone who chooses to believe in him.

One thing is for sure. He walked this earth for only 33 years. The images that depict him as mature, or with grayed hair, or with skin untouched by any elements, or as a ferocious aged person, etc., can't be accurate. Those who are 33 years of age today look much older than 33-year-olds did in Biblical times, when bodies endured life for hundreds of years.

Jesus Christ is God of all and no one color, race or ethnicity has an exclusive claim on his characteristics. It doesn't matter how he looked or looks. Ultimately, he is the image of Our Dear Father God and we are the image of them.

Weekend Of Renewal

Let this be a weekend of renewed, increased and elevated faith in Our Father and Our Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ.

We need to hold on with all of our might and build ourselves up in our most holy faith! Jesus loves us and nothing will separate us from God's love.

Pray Before Action

~ Dear Father: Thank you for leading me to pray before action so that I can divert disaster. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen. ~

You Are Here: Tired Of Praying & Weary VIII

Trials in life are so hard that it's easy to be reduced to begging God. I say reduced because begging is a fear state. It is beneath the position that God has provided for us through Christ's sacrifice. We are, in fact, heirs to the throne and joint-heirs with Christ. The actual enthroning hasn't happened yet because that is reserved for the New Heaven and the New Earth.

~ We no longer feel like praying when we feel that we need to beg. ~

Remembering this truth, however, can put us in the right, high position mentally and emotionally, as we live out our lives on this earth. That mental position is important in receiving from God rather than begging for what we already have. Why would we need to beg? Begging leads to exhaustion and a compromised prayer life. We no longer feel like praying when we feel that we need to beg.

Isn't it wonderful that as we pray for God's will that his will is actually the same as our will? We pray for what we do because we think it is best for us. Our Father wants the best for us, as well, and more than we do. Though he often needs to tweak our prayers and the results, he is always on our side.

~ Begging leads to more begging. ~

Relinquishing our doggedness and fear-focus in begging and instead praying one time for God's will about something does not mean that we will not be happy. It doesn't mean that we will never get a favorable reply to our fondest wishes. It means that we are more likely to. Begging leads to more begging. The prayer of faith pushed through, when we feel that we just can't pray another day, leads to results.

Refuse to beg. Determine to receive. God's Holy Spirit will show you how.

They Can't Stop Your Blessing

~ When your application is not approved or your request is not accepted, you don't have to be angry. You don't have to blame them. You either believe that no one can stop any blessings that God wants you to have, or you don't.  ~

You Are Here: Tired Of Praying & Weary VII

This morning was a morning when I did not feel like praying. How many of those mornings have you had lately? I felt so sluggish emotionally. So down. So weary. So hopeless. I made myself get on my knees, on my prayer pillow so my knees wouldn't hurt.

I made myself thank God for all that he has done for me, the things of which I was unaware. I thanked him for what he is doing, the things of which I am unaware. We know in our hearts that Our Father is always working things out on our behalf, don't we?

Basically, I made myself repeat things that I believe, no matter how I feel. My prayer wasn't long and when I pray like this I feel so bad. I almost feel like my prayer is fake, except I know that it is not. It is the prayer of a devoted person who refuses to give up on God.

You're tired of praying and weary and can't pray another day?

  1. Make yourself repeat truths that you believe
  2. Confirmations which are not based on how you feel
  3. Declarations that stand on the never-ending hope that springs alive in you.
  4. Scriptures that you have memorized and hid in your heart and have come to believe are true, because they have been engrafted in you.

Fight for your prayer life! Don't let it die! It is your supersonic, personal line of communication to the Most High God, Our Beloved Father. Repeat, repeat, repeat what you know in your heart of hearts! The repetition will carry you through until you can pray unique, targeted prayers again. All are valuable to God and can be used by his Holy Spirit and by Jesus, Our Lord and Savior.

Only By Faith In Christ

The Ten Commandments are a revelation and a guide only. They were not given to man for us to be able to perform flawlessly. They were given as a precursor, a forerunner to the arrival of Jesus Christ into the world. Those Commandments were also introduced into the world to show man that more is needed because the more that we try to perform those Commandments the worse it gets. Without the revelations in the Ten Commandments, none of us could ever see the truth about our condition and need.

The one thing that all humans have in common, past, present and future, whether they have any faith or not, is that we all age and die off of this earth. No one can stop it. Though I have struggled as a Christian, though I have failed, though I still have times when I'm angry with God, the Gospel of Jesus Christ, Salvation, is the only theology or doctrine that addresses human death in a way that makes sense to me. I don't mean that it makes sense to my fleshly, mental or psychological understanding. I mean that of all of the world's beliefs, it is the only faith-based, divine belief that makes sense to me.

Though we can study and learn about the things of God, the Kingdom of God that is given to anyone who wants to receive it is based on faith. This faith is in the revelation that God has given us about his Son. Those who love God through Jesus Christ are never able to make sense of many things in this worldly life. God has presented to us his answer and it is based in faith for as long as we are on this earth. Those who choose to believe in Christ's sacrifice continue daily to choose faith, no matter what is happening or not happening in their lives. Living in faith in The Son Of God can, however, make a difference in our lives.

Life on this earth can never be perfect but God has a plan that he has asked us to believe in. He wants us to hold to the knowledge until we leave here. Because we do leave here in undeniable death, it ties me to the truth of God's revelation of his Son and all that it implies. God asks us to believe in the salvation of his Son until the end. Whether each of us are on this earth or have died on, there will be an end to all of this horror, though for some it seems unlikely. The spirits of each of us lives forever, with God or without God. Physical death is inevitable. Spiritual death is not. We leave here but we are not gone because the spirit man cannot die. Salvation insures that those who choose to believe will live with God, forever.

In Biblical history, there was a great devastation that happened in the spirit world. It affected every human, past, present and future, and separated our spirits from God. Because it was not our fault and through his love for us, he provided a way for us to choose restoration of our spirits to himself. He made it simple so that anyone who wants it can simply choose to receive it. Anyone can accept and say that he/she believes that Jesus Christ is their only Savior, the Son whom God sent into the world. That's all.

We don't have to live a certain way. We don't have to do certain things. We don't have to stop doing things or start doing other things. We only need to choose to accept the truth of Salvation through Christ Jesus and mean it in our hearts. The good thing is that not only has God provided a way out of separation from him, he will also help us to accept the truth. He knows the hearts of every man and knows those who would like to believe and accept. He's a good God, the only wise God and the one true God. No one has ever lost out on a chance to accept Jesus as their Savior and never will. He's so very merciful and it is his desire that everyone should be saved.

I Timothy 2:4-7

The Weapon Will Not Produce

No weapon formed against us shall prosper doesn't mean that the weapon itself will always be stopped from striking. It means that the purpose and plan of the weapon, as designed by whoever the enemy is, will not produce the evil effect that the enemy intended. This is the heritage for those who love God through Jesus Christ by the power of The Holy Spirit, for those who choose to walk in the spirit and not in the flesh.

Isaiah 54:17

Ask God Only Once

Yes, it's good to ask Our Father for something only once. After that, we should thank him for it when the desire to ask for it again arises. Don't ask again. We should thank him for what we have already asked for.

When I ask, I also follow Jesus' example and I say, "Nevertheless, not my will but thy will be done, Father." I am acknowledging that if the answer is not as I expected, I trust that he has planned something better.
